To become a framework provider, Place needed to show evidence
of successful consultancy in the education ICT sector. In
particular, this involved an evaluation of its prior track
record, current capability and ability to sustain a quality
service in the future. In order to ensure the highest possible
standard of service, Becta will also continue to monitor Place’s
performance, as well as all other providers that participate
in the framework.
Commenting on Place’s success, Development Director,
Claire Delaney said, “We are delighted that Becta
has recognised our skills and experience in this area and
has chosen to add Place Group to this important framework.
It is very pleasing for us to know that Becta felt we could
offer something new and dynamic to UK based educational institutions
and we are looking forward to supporting many more schools,
colleges and local authorities over the coming months.”

Becta Launches a Procurement Framework for Educational
ICT Consultancy Services
Today, Becta has launched a new Procurement Framework for
educational ICT Consultancy Services which will provide the
education sector with quick, easy and efficient access to
high quality consultancy services from trusted suppliers.
The framework will replace the already successful Becta consultancy
framework agreement and provide education sector customers
with an EU-compliant route to procure high quality consultancy
services from approved suppliers.
Dr Stephen Lucey, Executive Director, Strategic Technologies,
at Becta said: "We have devoted a considerable amount
of expertise and resources to deliver a framework agreement
with the best ICT consultancy suppliers who have proven their
strengths and capabilities during a stringent evaluation process.
These suppliers will be a major force supporting Becta’s
strategy to ensure that the education sector’s investment
in ICT delivers real benefit to learners and the nation as
a whole.”
The nominated suppliers have the expertise and reputation
for delivering the most cost effective ICT solutions into
education and have been rigorously evaluated for their capability
in meeting educational, technical and procurement requirements.
They will have a significant role in the timely and effective
provision of ICT for the major new capital build and regeneration
programmes, both in the schools and the further education
sectors.
Steve Moss, Strategic Director for ICT at Partnerships for
Schools says: “Partnerships for Schools welcomes the
announcement by Becta of the new Framework. High quality advice
and consultancy is vital for local authorities and schools
as they plan for and engage in the Building Schools for the
Future (BSF) programme, and in particular when it comes to
making decisions about ICT which can help transform how students
learn and how teachers teach. The Becta ICT Consultancy Framework
is a valuable tool for helping local authorities to get good
advice for their BSF projects.”
